Literary Rogues Workshops

With the Fourth Annual Literary Rogues Society Poetry Slam around the corner, poets across Westminster are preparing their poems for the competition this February. In anticipation for this, the Rogues have offered several poetry workshops for students to edit and enhance their original poems before the Slam.

During these meetings, Timothy Gibson, upper school Bible teacher, as well as Nathan Talley, middle school Bible teacher, are assisting students with their poems on a one-on-one basis, while other students and Rogue members convene in small groups. This is the first time the Literary Rogues Society has held these workshops, and so far attendance has been high.

“[The goal is] to give people feedback on their poems and hopefully help those who come to create more powerful poems.  Also, I hope that after going to the workshops, poets will feel more confident in their work when it comes time to share their words aloud,” said Bree Jennrich, senior and president of the Literary Rogues Society.

Upcoming events for aspiring poets and writers of Westminster include the next workshop on Feb. 12, the Poetry Slam on Feb. 21, and a short story competition to be announced in the near future.
