Eighth Grade Volleyball Takes All

“These girls played their hearts out and worked together so well,” said Tammy Kuiper, the coach of the team during the tournament.
The tournament was held at MICDS, as it was their tournament. Visitation, the Crossroads, and MIDCS volleyball teams all showed up to the match with the same goal in their minds.
“Viz was a very strong and skilled team, we played very well against them,” said Coach.
The team ended up losing their first game against the undefeated Visitation team.
The next match was against the Crossroads whom the girls beat beat, along with the A and B teams of MICDS. Those defeats gave the Westminster girls a second chance for first place, but they had to play Visitation.
“We went into our last game with a lot of confidence because we were so close to beating them the first time,” said Anna Kuiper, eighth grade, “the game against Viz was the most intense game I have every played.”.
The first game, the Wildcats lost by a hair, but came back with a win in the second game. As the girls walked onto the court to start the third and final game, their hearts were pounding. They dove, blocked, and spiked their way to victory; the final score of the game was twenty to eighteen.
Hannah Stipanovich played a big role for the teams win against Visitation. Stipanovich played the whole game without a substitution and played every position on the court.
“Viz had a very strong blocker, but Hannah was stronger,” said Coach, “the teams ability to work with one another during the highs and lows of the game was key to their victory.”
