After long hours of practice and dedication, the Class of 2013 seniors claimed the title of champions of spirit week.

As the seniors struggled through some of the games during the week, other grades thought they had a chance to pull through and become victorious.

Although each grade worked very hard, the seniors managed to get first place in Boys Poms and Lip Sync, putting them in first place overall.

“We all had such a great time during spirit week, especially with Lip Sync this year. I loved how our class came together and worked so hard. Everyone did their absolute best and I think that we will be a class to remember,” said Mary Snapp, senior.

It was first time ever that the Class of 2013 placed first in Lip Sync, and they were able to do it with their dance to “A Night to Remember” from High School Musical 3.

“I’ve never been such a big part of Lip Sync, and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity this year. Working with all of the girls was a blessing, and I’m still amazed at how hard everyone worked. Each girl brought great attributes to our dance. This was by far the best spirit week we have had,” said Della Woodward, senior.

All of the Lip Sync and Boys Poms’ performers put in long hours during the week and gave up their Saturdays to perfect their dances, which paid off for them.

“Even though practicing for Boys Poms was pretty much my life for three weeks, it was totally worth it because the performances were a blast,” said Bryce Bell, senior.

The boys were able to make this their third year winning Boys Poms.

“My favorite part of Boys Poms was performing for the last time Friday night knowing that we got first because we put so much hard work into it,” said Taylor Deves, senior.

Each year parents and students look forward to seeing their Boys Poms routine because even as middle schoolers they were competitng for one of the top three spots.

“The boys would show up for Boys Poms with a vested interest in the routine and a desire to work hard. It is a lot of work and it is time consuming, but it is the most rewarding experience and I would not trade a minute with those boys for anything,” said Grace Linton, senior.

The senior Blue Man Stomp tied for second with the juniors. It was hard for them to get everyone together to practice because of people’s busy schedules. They spent Monday and Tuesday night of spirit week practicing for about five hours to get ready for their performance on Wednesday.

“This was my first time doing Blue Man and I’m glad I did it. The best part was making a new group of friends and collaborating music and theatrics. Spirit week was awesome overall. It was super busy, but when we won it made it all worth it,” said Brendan Solomon, senior.

The seniors got to enjoy their last spirit week as a class walking in together, competing in games, performing, and watching the teachers have their fun.

“My favorite part of spirit week besides getting first was seeing the teachers play musical chairs. There’s nothing like watching Mr. Haas and Dr. Sefrit get competitive,” said Deves.

The Class of 2013 was able to make spirit week “A week to remember.”
