The field hockey team started their season off with a jamboree at St. Joe. They took on two teams, Visitation Academy and Rockwood Summit. Their first game against Visitation ended well with a dominating 4-1 win. Westminster’s first ever victory against a traditional area power is a moment to remember. They then took on Summit who has a very strong team this year with strengths in many areas. This game resulted in a 1-1 tie.

Although the team graduated several seniors from last year’s team, Freshman the Wildcats gained some outstanding freshmen. Like players Caroline Campbell and Annie Benedict we are looking forward to some outstanding play this year. The Cats are also heavy with upperclassmen this year returning 9 seniors, many of which are returning varsity athletes.

The cats will take on Parkway Central for their first official games this year. Parkway Central is a strong team but the Wildcats knew how to capitalize and came out on top. The ending score was 7-1 with goals from a variety of players on the team. Sophia Zara (2), Mia Scheulen (2), Lucy Hager (2), and Lylah Kaminski (1). The cats were very strong on the offensive end keeping the ball on our half of the fifty the majority of the game. The team has great chemistry this year as their passes were connecting with one another. They play in the Gateway Classic this upcoming weekend which is the biggest midwest highschool tournament. Overall be on the lookout for a great season from this year’s field hockey team.
