Westminster Christian Academy delivered an impressive performance at the state swim and dive meet, finishing 7th overall out of 32 teams with 118 points. Competing against some of the top programs in the state, the Wildcats showed depth, senior leadership, and the ability to perform under pressure on the biggest stage.
The meet began with a strong showing in the Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay, where Westminster placed 4th with a final time of 1:49.91. The relay team of senior Gianna DeMaggio (27.63), freshman Amelia Holohan (31.47), senior Edith Susanne Doehring (26.33), and sophomore Lauren McCall (24.48) combined for one of the fastest swims in program history. Their fourth-place finish immediately put Westminster in contention in the team standings and set the tone for the rest of the meet.
Senior Edith Susanne Doehring had a busy and productive state appearance. She placed 9th in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.05 and later finished 9th in the 100 Yard Butterfly in 59.83. In addition to her individual events, Doehring played a key role in both scoring relays, contributing valuable points throughout the competition.
Gianna DeMaggio added another standout performance in the 100 Yard Backstroke, where she placed 5th in the state with a time of 59.86. Her top-five finish was one of the highest individual swimming placements for Westminster and provided a major boost in the team standings.
The Wildcats also shined in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, placing 5th overall with a final time of 1:41.25. The team of Edith Susanne Doehring (25.21), Gianna DeMaggio (25.29), Karly Keske (25.93), and Lauren McCall (24.82) delivered a strong, balanced performance that secured another top-five finish and reinforced Westminster’s sprint strength.
On the diving board, senior Taylor Synowiec earned a podium finish in the 1 Meter Diving competition, placing 3rd in the state with a score of 375.25. Her third-place finish was one of the highlights of the meet for Westminster and demonstrated the program’s strength beyond the swimming events.
By the end of the competition, Westminster Christian Academy had secured 118 points and a 7th-place overall finish, an accomplishment that reflects both the dedication of its senior leaders and the promise of its underclassmen. With multiple top-five finishes, a podium performance, and strong relay showings, the Wildcats proved they are among the top swim and dive programs in the state.
