The WCA hockey team scored a convincing 10-0 victory over Whitfield on Friday, November 30th, at the Affton Ice Rink. John Moeller, sophomore, paced the team with four goals, while team captain Sam Canfield, senior, had three assists. Goalkeeper Steven Howell, sophomore, had 14 saves to secure the shutout. The win improved the Wildcats’ record to 5-1-1 on the season.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, scoring five goals in the first period. They were able to put in multiple reserves as the game wore on, giving the younger players some valuable experience. In the third period, Nick Glanvill, freshman, scored a goal, prompting chants of “He’s a freshman!” from the Blue Crew. This goal extended the lead to 9-0. The Wildcats added another goal to make the final score 10-0.

“It was a good win. It’s nice to get some of the younger players experience and get some of the injured players healthy when we play easy teams like this. It will bring our confidence up and get us ready for when we play more difficult teams later in the season,” said Canfield.

The Wildcats took on Webster Groves on Tuesday night and tied 2-2. They play MICDS on Saturday the 8th at 7:45 PM.
