Home Run covers the fictional story of Cory Brand, an all-star athlete who seems to have it all together. He is a leading hitter on the field and the star of his team, but there is more to his story: on the field he is a stud, off the field he lives a drunken life that is spiralling out of control.

Brand abuses alcoholism as he is haunted by memories focused around his alcoholic, abusive father. When his alcoholism begins to get out of control, resulting in DUI’s, elbowing his nephew, and a team suspension, Brand’s manager sends him to his hometown to coach a little league baseball team. There, he is left to change his ways, and improve his reputation.

During his hometown stay, Brand is reunited with his divorced wife, meets his son, and is reminded of memories involving his late father. Brand’s manager sends Brand to a ten week recovery program in a local church. Here, Brand is given his last chance for change, thus story begins: Will Brand ignore his last warnings, or embrace Christian ideals and end his inevitable downfall?

Home Run proves to be a life assuring film that challenges individuals to go back to the real source of life – not fame and fortune, but love and community.

The only criticism I have for the movie concerns its poor acting. Otherwise, the story is well executed and worthwhile.
