Senior Art Board Redemption

Not satisfied with their fifth place finish last year, the 12th grade art board team was determined to finish first this year. The theme was St. Louis attractions, so the seniors decided to portray the St. Louis Zoo.

“We included a little bit of the nature aspect but still incorporated the memories of the Zoo for people in St. Louis,” Brittany Holden, senior.

The board features aspects of the Zoo such as the red rocks exhibit and the penguin exhibit. The trees, red rocks, and every animal are handmade and crafted. The painters put in countless “hours after school and then hours at home painting and detailing,” said Bethany Holden, senior.

“My favorite animal has to be the lemur, because the eyes are detailed so well,” said Holden.

Bethany still believes the other grades posed a lot of good competition for the senior class, especially the juniors who tied for first with the senior art board. Regardless, both Bethany Holden and first year art board participant Anna Johnson are proud of the senior art board and all the work put into it.

“I personally think our art board was successful due to everyone’s dedication,” Anna Johnson, senior.
