A major expansion has been made to Westminster’s college counseling department this year, the addition of Adionia Kuadio to the college counseling staff. With the departure of Mr Pott, the Westminster community was in dire need of an experienced and well-rounded individual to take his place. Ms. Kuadio’s office can now be found to the left of the upper school office. She helps with the college admission process and can provide valuable insight in her extensive experience.
Ms. Kuadio has a lot of different talents. As she states in a brief interview: “Before Westminster, I was still in education. I was teaching for four years before this. And I went to a graduate school at Wash U, and then I decided to get my undergraduate before that at U Chicago. Yeah, I’ve been in education, and I’ve always really loved education. So I’m very excited to fore into his new aspect of it, where I’m still able to support students if it’s not in a classroom […] I taught at Kip St Louis woods; it’s like a public charter district in Saint Louis city.”
Ms. Kuadio displays kindness in spirit that has a positive impact on those around her. Her fresh experience to her fresh experience in addition to her earnest nature add balance to the Westminster college admissions team. People can see she is also honest, and means what she says.
When interviewed, Karen Pollack, the director of college and career counseling, speaks highly of her contributions to the team: “Ms Kuadio, is an excellent writer, she’s a deep thinker, she cares deeply about education and making it available to all. She has experience in education and working with students and families. She has a warm personality, and genuinely wants to help people. And loves Jesus, and that is clear in the way she loves people well. Her personal experience at u Chicago and wash u are helpful in this role. As she guides students in this college path, and the best fit .”
Ms. Kaudio’s many abilities help sharpen her skill set as a college counselor. They push the community to understand this means more to her than just getting a paycheck. Ms. Kaudio loves what she does and has a passion for her career.
Ms. Kaudio has a strong sense of others and her faith. Ms. Kuadio explains , “[…]over the past few years I’ve really grown an interest in discipleship and deeply understanding what it means to be a follower of Jesus AND to teach others what it means for us to be followers of Jesus. The life that Christ has called us to is difficult and beautiful and I love coming alongside people who desire to know what it’s like to walk with Him. “
Ms. Kuadio, has a kindness and experience around her, which she uses to help the next generation of students when looking for a future beyond Westminster. As Mrs. Pollack states, “She is able to relate very well to students because she is younger than Mrs. Hsu and me. So it’s easy for her to establish good rapport with the students. She has a very claiming spirit about her or presence I guess-presence about her. She is very kind and an excellent problem solver.[…] And sincerely cares about her students and family’s, and wants to help them succeed in whatever way possible.”
