Running in Cold Weather

Last year I planned to run everyday over the winter. But I soon realized that was wishful thinking winter weather in St. Louis is unpredictable. One day it’s warm and sunny, and the next day it is snowing.  I could put up with  running in the rain but not the snow. It was the absolute worst feeling when it started to snow in the middle of my run. So this year I devised a new plan. I got a stand to turn my bike into an exercise bike. That way I could stay in shape without having to be stuck out in the cold. Rather than running everyday I run some days and bike the others. I have realized that biking is more beneficial for other reasons than foul weather. In the winter it gets dark around five. Sometimes with my homework by the time I’m ready to run it’s already too dark. Having a stationary bike allows me to still exercise despite the fact that the sun has already set. I have really enjoyed having the ability to bike and stay warm at the same time.
