The cats are beginning to heat up as the second half of the season comes around the corner, they are 3-1 in the past week and a half of play. On September 27th, they traveled to Saint Dominic high school on Wednesday night taking on the Number 4 overall in the state ranked Crusaders in a much anticipated matchup. “The game plan was we needed to stay compact and defend well as a team. We knew they were going to outpossess us and outpass us but we also knew that we were going to have chances when we countered and caught them pushing too many guys forward.” said coach Legters

As the game began the cats had a rough start with the Crusaders controlling the ball for the majority of the first half. Dominic dominated in the Cats half of the field getting many chances but, luckily only succeeding on one of their many opportunities. Despite the 1-0 score at halftime the cats were determined to make a fight back into the game, they turned it around in the second half with many opportunities unfortunately not succeeding on any of them. Fortunately the cats were gifted with a goal in the last 20 minutes of the second half as the opposing keeper let a pass back go past him into the goal tying the game up. This spark is exactly what the cats needed and would ignite a fire in the cats battling it out with the Crusaders for another two ten minute overtime periods, as they came to an end the game looked up for grabs for either side and looked as if either side could take the win. The Cats did their jobs putting there first 4 penalties in the back of the net, as for Saint Dominic there 4th penalty attempt was sent over the goal. This left the door wide open for the cats, Junior center back Landon Cassidy had a chance to send the cats home with yet again another win. Landon confidently stepped up and smoothly controlled the game. He followed his routine, and before anyone realized it, he scored a goal and led the cats to victory, leaving the opposing team feeling defeated. “All I could focus on was getting this goal, every other noise was blocked out” said Landon Cassidy.

The Cats had achieved the underdog victory, beating the fourth ranked team in the state. The Boys soccer team looks to stay hot with many more games coming in the future, their next being next monday, October 2nd.
