Cross Country Picks up Where They Left off

Cross Country team during practice

I think the team could definitely go places later in the season” said Lydia Bailey, Senior. The cross country looks to pick up right where they left off from last season where then senior addie draper and then junior Lydia Bailey qualified for state. Lydia Bailey went on to be a state medalist in the 2022 season placing 21st out of 161 runners. This year she is going to try and continue her success. Addie Draper signed to run colleigatley at Taylor University where she is running both cross country and track. This was a big step for the cross country team because not many runners have gone on to run collegiately in the past for westminster. This year the cats look to continue to send runners to state such as lydia bailey.

Joseph skogen is a freshman who has a lot of talent but if he works hard enough he might be able to qualify for state. Theo DeBoer is also a great runner that works hard and he could qualify. However they are both freshmen and most likely they will be competing in class 4 or 5 which are extremely competitive so whether they can get up to that level remains to be seen. The guys team definitely has the potential in the next couple of years to be competitive at districts and state.
