Jones has been a varsity wrestler for four years.

Nolan Jones’ success may not have been in the past week, he certainly deserved the spotlight. The senior wrestler made a strong state run despite various injuries and has been a leader on the team all four years of his varsity experience.

Jones’ determination and grit for this very challenging and physically demanding sport has shown since he was in middle school, and as a result, he has led many of his teammates to push themselves through even the most difficult practices and workouts.

In his sophomore year, Jones missed out on a state qualification by one point, and in his junior year, he developed a devastating injury in a practice one day before leaving for state, cutting his season short. This year, he had something to prove. After a late third period comeback in the district championship, Jones finally earned his ticket to the state tournament.

After winning the first few rounds, Jones was onto his “make-or-break” match, where a win would guarantee him a spot as a podium placer. However, his journey ended here by a mere one point. Nevertheless, Nolan Jones’ legacy will live on throughout Westminster, inspiring athletes below him to show the same toughness and passion for the sport that he did.
