Casen Lawrence showcased his abilities in the MICDS Christmas Tournament.

Without much debate, this week’s player of the week belongs to Casen Lawrence, senior point guard and Truman State signee. Lawrence led the boys basketball team to three consecutive victories, claiming the title of the MICDS invitational tournament to continue their undefeated record.

Lawrence started the season off hot in their first game against Soldan, where he scored 25 points to move the Wildcats to a game against Whitfield, where he again scored double digit points, putting up 18.

After defeating the host team by 20 points in the championship game, Lawrence was named MVP of the tournament, also making the all-tournament team along with Austin Vick, senior center. His consistent three point shooting, court vision, and ball handling made him a clear standout from the start.

Lawrence has proven that he is an elite point guard in the St. Louis area. His average of 18 points per game puts him in the top 32 scorers in the area, and an average of four three pointers per game ranks him at fifth.

With Casen Lawrence’s statistical contributions and veteran leadership, a Class 5 state championship title appears to be a very attainable goal for the team this year.
