When the Westminster girls volleyball team played Ladue on Wednesday, September 30th, Alexandra Bishop, sophomore, made her presence known with several dominating blocks and powerful kills. Although this is her first year at Westminster, one would have thought that she has been on the team for years.

This year’s varsity volleyball team is full of new faces. However, Alli Bishop’s unique height and talent especially makes her stand out. She has been a vital component to the team’s success this season as a middle hitter and blocker.

“Although she’s new, Alli fits right in. She is our strongest middle and a huge force at the net,” said Hailey Pritchett, junior.

COVID-19 made a positive contribution to Westminster’s new addition.

“I came to Westminster this year from Lafayette because my parents wanted me to go to school in person and have the opportunity to have a Christ centered education,” said Bishop.

The veterans on the team showed Alli the Westminster way, welcoming Alli with open arms and instantly making her feel at home.

“I love all the girls on the team so much, they were all super welcoming to me and always made sure I felt included and a part of the team despite me being new,” said Bishop.

Alli has been playing the sport of volleyball since seventh grade, and she has never looked back. She has been playing for Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club for three years now, and she aspires to take her career to the collegiate level and be a part of the Ohio State women’s volleyball team.

Not only is Alli a talented player, but she also has a vibrant and contagious personality. When the team played Ladue last Wednesday, Alli was constantly celebrating every point and encouraging her teammates throughout the good and the bad.

“Alli is one of my favorite teammates to be around. She is super energetic on and off the court. She’s extremely nice and always encouraging me and the rest of the team constantly. Alli is the girl who always has a smile on her face. She is extremely competitive on the court, and she makes playing with her a lot of fun because of how talented she is and how great her attitude is,” said Pritchett.

With Alli’s help, the volleyball team has become a beacon of light for other sports teams to look to. Their chemistry, core values, and hard work makes them a perfect example of what Westminster represents.

“What makes our team stand out from other teams is everyone on the team’s desire to play for each other and provide a good environment where we can learn and grow together, while honoring Christ through our play,” said Bishop.
