Primed for a run at the District Championship, the Boys Soccer team has the experience, star power, and potential to take the next step. Although many key players have since moved on to various colleges, some newcomers could bring new life into the season.
0n 2018, the Wildcats started off going 6-7, losing tough games to the Mason Road rival Rebels and John Burroughs, the team took a trip to McCracken County in Kentucky that helped turn the season in a positive direction. Going 2-1 with combined totals of eight goals for and two goals against, the boys brought back with them a fire unseen in the state of

Kentucky since the large flame at The Wildcats lost their final two regular-season games earning themselves a date with that team up north. In the first two matchups of the season, the Rebels won both games by a combined score of 8-2.

The odds were stacked against the Wildcats as a large Senior class craved something not done since 2014. But some things just arent meant to be. A tough 3-0 loss ended the careers of twelve Seniors.

With the strong Class of 2019s departure, this years squad looks to retool on the fly and go further in postseason play. Key returning players include Seniors Mike Lemp, Danny Sacco, and Will Mason along with Juniors Andrew Smith, Aidan Kline, and Luke Laughlin. These six act as the older leaders for a rather young team that includes two Sophomores with bright potential, Jack Lemp and Caleb Legters.

The Lemp brothers will combine for six Varsity seasons of Soccer at Westminster when its all said and done.

Im excited to play with my brother for one more year and see what happens this season, said Jack Lemp.
Senior Danny Sacco was asked for his thoughts on this team and what Westminster Soccer has meant to him.

These boys are my family. I look forward to coming to practice after school every day and hang out with some great friends. I want to have an impact both on the program and younger players just as Seniors have in the last three years, he said.

Another player to watch this year is a guy in his first season in high school, Freshman Tyler Hott. Playing defense, he could be the piece that puts the Wildcats over the top this season. Should they make a deep run in the playoffs, Hott will likely have a big role in that happening. According to Sacco, Hott is very composed and has the chance to be one of the best players Westminster has seen,

Early on this year, the Wildcats will have a battle settling into new roles and developing chemistry with one another. Once they are all on the same page, they have an opportunity to reclaim the District Championship once again. They play their first game on Friday against Principia.
