Powderpuff

The most anticipated girls’ football game of the year finally arrived — the annual powderpuff game. Due to their larger team and intense practice schedule, the seniors won 49-35. The seniors had six practices where they worked on everything from lining up to trick plays. The senior coaches, Jordan Smith, Nick George, and Tyler Catlett worked the girls until they were sure the victory was theirs.

“The girls worked hard and deserved the win,” said George.

Unlike the seniors, the juniors only practiced twice and focused on the basics of football. The junior coaches, Jordan Harvey and Joseph Curtis, at first were skeptical of the girls skills, but the team quickly improved due to outstanding coaching and hard work.

“At first, the girls were awful, but by game day, I thought we had a good chance of winning. We will win next year,” said Harvey.

Finally, game day arrived. The twenty minute halves flew by as the score volleyed between the teams. Standout player for the seniors was running back Kayla Hampton. Hampton played powderpuff both junior and senior year. The juniors star player was undoubtedly  Charisse Williams who played both running back and defensive end. In the end, the Seniors hard work payed off as they took home a 49-35 victory.
