Varsity Volleyball Dominates Troy

The Lady Wildcats defeated Troy 2-0

Starting off the home schedule, the Lady Wlidcats faced off against a tough Troy Trojans squad. The game started with both sides trading points. The Trojans made it 2-1 on a net violation. An Elizabeth Sems, junior, kill evened it back up and an Avery Engelmeyer, sophomore, ace made it 5-4. The teams went back and forth until the Trojans made a quick run, aided by two WCA errors. A brilliant save by Sems ended the run with the score tied. However the Trojans quickly grabbed the momentum back with a quick five points. The Wildcats fired a timeout to break the Trojan momentum. Both teams fought back and forth, with each making stellar saves to steal points. With the score tied at 15, Megan Williams, senior, sent a great ball right down the line for a key score. The Trojans fought back, aided by key service errors.
With the score 22-21 in favor of the Trojans, the cats battled to win a long rally on a big Elizabeth Sems kill. The cats finished off the set on the back of Lane Penberthy, senior, who’s two aces made it 25-23

The Trojans started the second set hot as they jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead. The lead was promptly erased behind two Sems kills. With the score knotted up at eight, Williams delivered a key block that gave the cats the lead. Troy quickly rebounded scoring four points of their own. However, the cats fought back with some key digs by Macy Catlett, senior. Troy never recovered and the game ended 25-21 on a big kill from Elizabeth Sems.
