Wildcats Defeated by John Burroughs’ Agile Offense

This past Saturday, after an all-around well-played game, the John Burroughs Bombers beat the Westminster Wildcats 33 to 7.

The game started off on a good note for the Wildcats when, on the opening kickoff, Kyle Kinner ran for a 91 yard touchdown return, putting Westminster on the scoreboard. But then, on Burroughs first offensive possession, Burroughs star running back Ezekiel Elliot scored on a 65 yard touchdown run and tied the score.

After that, despite the WCA defense’s best efforts, they could not hold back the bombers agile offense. Finally in the second quarter, Westminster drove their way down the field to the Bombers 22 yard line where they attempted a field goal, which was no good. By the end of the first half, the Wildcats were losing 27 to 7.

After the half, Burroughs received the kick-off and scored on their first offensive play of the half. After getting the ball back following a Travis Ralls punt, the Bombers attempted to drive their way down the field, but, in an impressive display of skill and determination, Westminster’s defense was able to stop the Bombers in their tracks.

In fact, the Bombers offense was held to merely six points in the entire second half of the game. This is impressive considering the all-around talent of Burroughs’ team.
