Hockey Season was a Definite Success

The Westminster hockey team has made tremendous success this year. After having a amazing record and beating Chaminade (ranked 6), the wildcats finished this year better than they have ever before.
Loosing to SLUH was hard loss, but the wildcats were proud of their season.
“We wanted to win for our captain, [Nathan Smallwood] and make his last year a really good one,” said Ben Evans, sophomore.
“After losing to SLUH, everyone was just sad it was over. The frustration of losing 6-2 was gone, but we just couldn’t believe it was over. Everyone on the team has been working hard and making hockey a top priority since summer, and after all the dedication, hard work, and the good times we all had, it was just hard to believe it was over until next season,” said Brendan Terbrock, sophomore.
The Wildcats are waiting in anticipation for next season, and planning on doing a lot better and hoping to make it farther this year than last.
“Next year we’re hoping to come right back out and do the same thing. We will have a tougher schedule next year now that we have proved that we can play with the best teams out there, so out goal will be the same as this year which is to keep winning and continue to build Westminster’s hockey program. We basically want to continue where we left off this year a hopefully find ourselves next March at Scottrade Center playing for the State Title,” said Terbrock.
The Wildcats have had the best season for hockey this year than ever, and hope next year will be even better.
“This season was the best hockey season of my life. Being on a successful team not only means you win a lot of games, but where you win you get along with each other. The biggest difference between last year and this year was somehow we all became friends. Even outside the rink, I spent more time with the guys on my team than anyone. Before every game we all hung out at the coaches house for a few hours. Going 19-2 in the regular season was fun, but the times our team spend together is what we’ll all remember most about this year,” said Terbrock.
Everyone at Westminster is waiting until next year to do more things, and make it farther in the playoffs, and the hockey players have the support of the whole school, cheering them on.
