Cross Country Runs to Victory

Fourteen runners laced up their running shoes on Saturday, October 31st for the cross-country district meet.
The seven runners from the girls’ division were Julie Sharp, Amanda Bettlach, and Rebecca Harner, seniors; Lucy Wynn, and Ramya Gruneisen, sophomore; Laura Tarantino and Leah Janssen, freshmen.
Sharp placed 5th and Tarantino placed 10th resulting in securing a spot at state. These girls will be competing in the state meet this upcoming weekend. Predicting the results of the race is always tentative, but the girls are positive.
“Because the training I have received this season is well beyond anything I’ve done in the past, I know that I will place better than I have before, but I don’t know exactly where that will be,” said Sharp.
Tom Winter, senior; Daniel Everett, David Everett, and Danny Keith, juniors; Peter Duell, sophomore; Reagen Dykhouse and Brenden Solomon, freshmen.
David Everett and Danny Keith will be moving onto state this weekend along with Sharp and Tarantino. Everett placed 1st, while Keith placed 6th.
Though the course was very muddy and the weather was less than desirable, the runners competed to the best of their ability.
“The course was awful. I stayed with the leaders for two miles then I tried to break away,” said David Everett.
The state competitors are excited for the upcoming weekend at state and are ready to dominate.
“I am excited to improve on these performances and to show the state course what I’m really made of on Saturday,” said Sharp.
