New and interesting games headline the beginning to Spirit Week 2010. The week starts off with WCA Quidditch on Monday. The game consists of a runner for each team trying to uncover tennis balls that match their class color under buckets. They have to run back to the trashcans and avoid getting pegged by the beaters who throw dodge balls. Each grade has a student who defends their basket and tries to avoid opponents putting balls in their basket. If you get a ball into another grade’s bucket its worth five points, but for each ball in your own basket it is two points against your team. Although this game seems confusing it flows very well.
Another new addition is The Floor is Lava which consists of getting 6 people as far as possible one 3 carpet squares without touching the floor. The grade accomplishing the farthest distance will win.
The most basic game entering the mix this year is the Tricycle Race. Each grade will send a member out for a one lap around the gym race.
Sumo Wrestling looks to be an exciting new part to the lineup. It will be a one-on-one tournament style with each wrestler having an exercise ball around their stomach. The goal of the match is to get your opponent on the ground.
The most complex game of Spirit Week 2010 is the Step Competition. This event requires each grade to put together a one-minute step routine that can involve speaking, but no music is allowed. It will test the rhythm and flow of each grade.
The new games add an extra element to Spirit Week and could determine the overall champion.
