When an unexpected disaster occurs on Bella’s 18th birthday, the Cullens decide to flee Forks in an effort to protect Bella. Left heartbroken and hopeless, Bella sinks into depression. Most of her high school year is spent numb and alone. As she puts herself in dangerous situations, Edward’s image appears in her thoughts. Bella dives deeper into the supernatural world as she discovers that the vampires are not the only creatures in town. Re-connecting with her childhood friend Jacob Black, Bella regains temporary happiness. When Bella encounters trouble in the woods a pack of enormous wolves appear. Therefore leading in to the history of the Quileute tribe. Bella discovers the secret of Jacob’s tribe and yearns to re connect with Edward. However, extreme dangers stand in the way and many lives are put at stake.
Sticking extremely close to the books, fans who read the books generally seemed to be pleased. The Director, Chris Weitz, carried the movie with a constant wave of energy and a fast pace script, which in turn left the audience captivated and intrigued.
“New Moon” revolves around the main character Bella falling into a deep depression when Edward leaves; however, quick-witted comments and spurts of humor were intertwined with some serious moments, which kept the film light-hearted and fun.
Whether they read the books or not, the audience was left on an extreme cliffhanger, which no one could have predicted. The theater gasped in shock as a question was asked and was followed by a black screen and the credits.
The graphics and CGI (Common Gateway Interference) effects were excellent considering the fact that enormous wolves interacting with people is something that is not commonly seen. The small details were evident as even the fur of the wolves blew in the wind.
“New Moon” was filled with an immense amount of passion, action, and drama, which catered to a wider spectrum of viewers.
The daunting task of stepping into a franchise that became a phenomenon certainly put a lot of pressure on the new director, Weitz. Weitz took the challenging task of pleasing millions of fans around the world by unquestionably succeeding with flying colors.
The main characters went through dramatic transformations physically and mentally during “New Moon”. Actor Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, worked out for a year to ensure he would hold the part of Black for “New Moon. This average teenager gained the respect and attention from many as he transformed his body for the role.
Grasping the image of the characters better, Weitz slightly altered their physical appearance from the first movie, which proved more realistic. The overall mood and ambience was warmer and softer contrasting the modern design of “Twilight”. Creative filming techniques proved the higher budget that summit allowed for the making of “New Moon”.
In opening weekend alone, “New Moon” racked in a total of 140,700,000 dollars. The movie did not disappoint fans in delivering an exemplary performance. Apart from the annoyance of the screaming fans in the theater, it’s defiantly worth spending the money to see.
Therefore, if you’re a fan or not, boy or girl, the high action and drama of “New Moon” is well worth the time and money.
