First Thing’s First

Student Leaders are Working with the Administration to sponsor a JSB dance.

Junior Senior banquet has been a time to commemorate the seniors and a time for Westminster girls to splurge on a dress that they will most likely only wear once.

In years past, the administration has solely been in charge of the dinner portion of the night, but this year they are trying something a little different. This year they are sponsoring a swing dance after party, which will be held at Forest Hills Country Club.

“There will be an actual band called Miss Jubilee & the Humdingers who perform at the Casa Loma. That way, it’ll feel very authentic and won’t just be us trying our best to lead a swing dance” said Paris Hubler, junior SLT (student leadership team) member.

SLT is working very hard with the administration to grant the wishes of having a dance sponsored by the school. They are confident that hosting a swing dance is a step in the right direction.

“The administration is trying to listen to the desires of the students. Because of this, they saw swing dancing as a popular option that they were willing to try” said Hubler.

This is the first time in Westminster history that the school is sponsoring an after party, whereas in years past it has been completely hosted by the senior parents. SLT is very excited about the possibilities the dance has, and the doors that will continue to open for the student body regarding dances.

“While we’ve been planning the event our faculty leaders have been getting pretty excited about the swing dance. So, I think that if it goes well, they’ll definitely be willing to continue having dances” said Hubler.
