Parents gathered around their senior children, who perform either on the basketball, dance, or cheerleading team. The tradition of senior night is highly looked upon as a positive outlet to engage the parents and recognize the importance of their support for their children’s success.
This year’s senior night was a success like previous years. Senior night is not so much just to recognize the players but the parents and the Westminster community too. Programs were handed out that gave a little description about each student to engage and make people feel a part of this experience.
“The night was very enjoyable, and I was surprised I was able to hold back my tears,” said Gay Thompson who is Tony Thomson’s, senior, mother.
Senior night started with Westminster recognizing the other team’s seniors, and then they gave their recognition to the Westminster dance team, cheerleading, and then the basketball team. Each senior gave their mother a rose and took pictures together.
After this preliminary gathering the Wildcats faced-off against Borgia, which is one of the best teams in Saint Louis. The Wildcats put up a good fight, especially during the first half, but lost with the score being 38-58.
“It was a good game to learn from our mistakes so that we can move forward to districts,” Daniel Alexander, senior, said.
