The unique but bizarre balance of characters within WCA’s Spirit Club fused into an unusually unique plan for an unforgettable week. From the confident and imaginative leadership of Miss Sara Keeton, Spirit Club Advisor, and Forrest Hughes, Spirit Club President, it is no wonder that the plans of the 2010 Spirit Week have a fresh new twist while still respecting the good-ol’ traditions of the past.
Many students have noticed the dress-up days are much more involved this year. This can be attributed to the fact that every member of Spirit Club contributed their own wacky ideas from “Joutfit Day,” where everyone wears blue jean from head to toe, to “Tacky Prom Day,” where everyone dresses up in the most un-fashionable prom look they can imagine. The ideas bouncing around the room were extraordinarily clever. “Food Day” was another crazy idea, where everyone dresses up like food. The process of narrowing down these ideas took many weeks.
However, all aspects of the decision-making process were not as difficult to complete. The group was never harsh and always filled the room with laughter and smiles in the face of disagreement.
“We are the most booty-kick’n club at Westminster,” said Hughes.
“A great Sprit Club requires the perfect blend of people who are creative and can get things done. I always love Spirit Club meetings because they are so amusing, but I know I can trust people to run Spirit Week well,” said Miss Keeton.
Now that Spirit Week is nearly approaching, it is crunch time for the lively crew. The logistics of the week must go off without a hitch and timed practice set-ups have already ensued.
“Spirit Week is by far the most amazing, exhausting, memorable, and exciting week of the WCA school year and I cannot wait for it to finally be here” said Sam Bowman, senior Spirit Club member.
